“Persistence” (Taking a Look at the Dedication of Satan)

Okay… okay… okay now I know you may be thinking what the heck is she talking about now, “The Dedication of Satan”. So just hear me out and hopefully you will read this blog post until the end. I know  this may sound a little crazy or very out of the box, but I want you to go with me into scripture. (Luke 4:1-13NIV ) This is where Jesus was tempted by Satan. For those of you who know this scripture we usually know it by how Jesus responded and how he resisted Satan’s temptation, but what I want you to take notice in is just how dedicated Satan is in his attempts to temp Jesus.

Luke 4:1‭-‬13 NIV “1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. 3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” 4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’ ” 5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6 And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.” 8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’  9 The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. 10 For it is written: “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; 11 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’ ” 12 Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ” 13 When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.”

OK now look closely,  Satan would present something to Jesus and Jesus turned him down. Then Satan presented something else to Jesus and Jesus turned it down again. And as you remember he presented one more thing to Jesus and even though Jesus turned him down a third time the scripture says he went away to wait for a more opportune time!

Now here is where I’m going with this. How many times as Christians have we been let down? How many times have we been denied by man? How many times have we come to a brick wall in a situation and we just give up and feel we can’t deal! Now what if we had that same dedication as Satan. Oh yes he is evil and the root of all demonic influences. But I’m not telling you to act and do what he does and say what he says. But look at his persistence! He never stops trying to interfere with our lives, our faith, or our connection to God. What if we were persistent as believers in our belief, in our faith, in our everyday lives. What if we were persistent in our goals and in our dreams. Most of all what if we were persistent in our PRAYERS! What would happen if we never gave up, if we never gave in and if we didn’t let one “no” answer stop us? We would be UNSTOPPABLE! All though the kingdom of Satan’s agenda is evil we can take note of its persistence.

Also take note of Satan’s urgency. As soon as Jesus was alone in the wilderness the devil took advantage of the opportunity to tempt him. Many don’t know or may not understand, but Satan has a limited time as “ruler of this world” before he is destroyed in the end. And he knows this! This is why he’s so persistent and consistent in trying to deceive and destroy believers and the church. We as believers should understand that our time is also limited. Not only by our physical lives but by the end of days or “The Day of the Lord”. So we should live out our lives with fervor for the Lord and a sense of urgency for His kingdom!

God is looking for believers! He is looking for people who trust him and need him. But often times we have given up right before our blessing, right before our breakthrough, right before our miracle! So lets make a conscious decision to be persistent in our work for God. If Satan can be so dedicated to the deception and destruction of man and even  try to deceive the Son of God, we should be that much more dedicated in our service to God. In our faith, our works, and our life! Lets advance the Kingdom of God with a sense of urgency and continuos persistence!
