Keeping The Faith In A Tight Space

Have you ever just felt like life is going good. Your bills are paid, your kids are doing well in school. God just keeps blessing you and those around you. I mean you’re just in a good place in the Lord. When suddenly the enemy throws a wrench into your gears! Whether it’s an argument with your spouse or loved one, your kids are acting up at school, work isn’t going so well socially or financially. You get hit with something big like your car breaking down and now you have to come out of pocket on a lot of cash because hey, your car is how you get back to that job to make more money for sustainability. Whichever scenario may apply to you we all know those moments can really get you down ( even if you were on Cloud 9 with Jesus).

I don’t know about you but sometimes I feel like the enemy waits for that moment when we are just having so much joy and you’re in what I like to call blessing mode. ( that’s when God blesses us so big or so unexpectedly that you just step back and say ” okay God you’re just showing out now!”) It is at that very moment that the enemy comes in just to place some doubts, guilt, shame or some other negative emotion in your path so that he can discourage you and bring you back to a place of sadness. He does this because he wants you to forget about your blessings and the favor God has shown you. Because if he can get you to that negative place it puts you in a mindset that makes it difficult to receive everything else God has for us. And if you ask me God must have some big plans for us if the enemy feels he needs to try and drive a wedge between you and your heavenly father.

In my studying I came across a few scriptures that would help in those times where you feel you may be losing your faith.

A thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But I came to give life—life that is full and good.
John 10:10 ERV

Sometimes the enemy’s purpose when he is attacking you is to steal your joy, kill your faith and destroy your relationship with God! This scripture is good because it reminds us of his character and nature and it helps us to be able to recognize when he is active in our situations. It also helps us to be able to address him and what he is trying to do in our lives!

When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
Luke 4:13 NIV

This scripture is when the devil tried to tempt Jesus in the wilderness and it shows that even the devil is patient. He is often on standby willing to wait for another opportunity to place confusion or issues in our lives.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1 NIV

because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
James 1:3 NIV

Simple Definition of
perseverance
: the quality that allows someone to continue trying to do something even though it is difficult.

This scripture means that if our faith is being tested we have the strength to overcome any adversity which in turns makes our faith even stronger! So the more we endure and stand firm the stronger our faith becomes!

So don’t be discouraged but be encouraged that with every test and every trial God is near and he is strengthening us through those trials! Sometimes we will all have a moment where we have just been beaten down so bad that we begin to lose faith. So I want to encourage you to begin keeping track of your blessings. Maybe even create a gratitude journal so when your feeling faithless you go back and look and remind yourself of all that God has already done! And remember that if he did it before he can do it again!

What are your thoughts on this topic and if you have a faith testimony please share it. Let’s encourage one another!
